쉽게 얘기하자면, 프로젝트 팀원들의 역할 과 책임을 표로 기술해 놓은 것이다.

역할 및 책임 정의(Role and Responsibilities Definition)
프로젝트 팀 요원들의  역할 및 책임을 도식적으로 기술해 놓은 것.

책임 및 권한 매트릭스(Responsibility  and Authority Matrix : RAM) 또는 RASIC 매트릭스 모형으로 알려져 있기도 하다. 
RASIC 모형에는 다음과 같은 요소가 포함된다; .

책임(Responsibility) .  승인(Approval) . 지원(Support) . 정보(Information) . 자문(Consult)

R (Responsible) = 문제/프로젝트를 가진다.
A (Approval) = 누구에게 책임이 있는가? 작업을 해도 좋다는 승인 또는 서명을 해야 함.
S (Support) = 실행에 있어 자원을 제공하거나 지원역할을 할 수 있다.
I (Information) = 정보통, 결과를 통보해야 하나 컨설팅할 필요는 없다.
C (Consult) = 작업을 완수하는데 필요한 정보와 능력을 보유하고 있다.

Responsible: those solely and directly accountable for creating a work product

Approving: the party (or parties) that reviews and assures the work product's quality

Supporting: individuals or groups who help to create the work product

Informed: those who are to be kept informed about proceedings

Consulted: those who help design the product or put in place quality review criteria
